Sarah works mainly in charcoal, acrylics and, occasionally, oils having begun to draw and paint again after a long hiatus. Her current inspiration is drawn from her connection with the central west landscape and, closer to home, produce from the garden. The landscape for its long views, shifting light and seasonal variation which can suddenly turn a familiar aspect into something new and dramatic. The garden provides more domestic subject matter for still life, celebrating the small triumph of producing food for family and friends often in spite of what the weather brings.
Life on a small farm and vineyard does not allow for as much time as she would like to devote to drawing and painting |
