Born in Western Victoria, Peter grew up on a rural property. He began his studies in painting at the Meldrum School of tonal painting in Melbourne age 17 and later moved to Sydney to study drawing and artistic anatomy at the Julian Ashton Art School where he won the inaugural ‘Dobell Scholarship for Drawing’. He has acquired 64 awards and honours including the Norwich industries Award, and the prestigious ‘A.M.E Bale Travelling and Educational Scholarship’ enabling him to embark on a study tour of Europe, USA and Japan. During this period Peter studied the work of the European Masters in the world’s great museums and galleries, he lived and worked in studios in Amsterdam and Paris and travelled to eleven countries during 1992-93.
He has received multiple commissions, has been exhibited in over sixty group shows in regional and commercial Galleries, a finalist in major art awards such as the Dobell Drawing Prize AGNSW and the Adelaide Perry Drawing Prize, held ten solo exhibitions and his work is represented in collections around the world.
